Composing The Shot

I did a portrait session today with a Boston based music composer Jean Y. Foo. You can check her out at http://www.jeanyfoomusic.com/ we did some shots with her beautiful piano and natural lighting. We also had a great team of hair and makeup artists. Christy Lavallee did her makeup http://www.modelmayhem.com/1553757 , and Jessica Feeley did some beautiful romantic curls http://www.modelmayhem.com/1668195. Here are some shots. To book your own portrait session check out www.brmimaging.com and contact me at brmimaging@gmail.com

What do straws have to do with it ?

So I went to Hunts the other day on a search for a small grid for my flash unit, and they didnt have one ! only a display one which they wouldnt sell. I also needed some thunder grey backdrop paper which was out of stock and only on display ! it was a shopping flop to say the least. I convinced them to give me the old beat up display paper at a super discount. I still needed a grid for my flash so i went home and started a project (this happens daily) I cut up some straws, meticulously painted each one, strapped them together with some gorilla tape and walla ! a free grid (beats paying $30 for a peice of plastic at Hunts). Another problem was the fact that I dont keep models in my closet so I had to get out the remote and test it on myself. p.s. Im wearing a bathing suit (it was 100 degrees and i dont have AC) Here are the results. Keep in mind this low key lighting is new for me, so feel free to give input.

Fierce In the City

Had a shoot today downtown Boston, with Tonn Model Cayla. We had a lot of fun, considering the intense time crunch we were under I think the shoot turned out pretty well. She was a great model ! My favorite is the window reflection one, i think that was at a starbucks. This is probably too many photos to post from one shoot but i always liked picture books with as little words as possible. :) so enjoy the picturebook, and let me know your thoughts.

BRM Imaging Fashion Photography : About Me

A little about me :

I knew at a young age I had a passion for everything artistic and creative. Constantly sketching gowns and  designs as a child I dreamed of a career in fashion. At an early age I moved to Los Angeles to attend The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. While in school I worked for a boutique pr firm specializing in fashion events, where I assisted stylists and learned about the industry.

After graduating I moved to Boston to further my studies in Graphic Design at Suffolk University. In my spare time I taught myrself the art of photography and worked with some of the best and most well-known fashion photographers in Boston. After building a strong portfolio, I started booking photo shoots with models, designers, and top modeling agencies all over New England.

With a background in design and fashion I was able to creatively plan a photo shoot from location scouting  to styling assistance. Most of all, I strive to bring out the beauty in all of my models.

A little about my photography :

As a photographer I enjoy creating moments that show a thought or feeling or fantasy. I always take full advantage of my surroundings and keep an open eye throughout my days because i know that inspiration is found everywhere. My background in graphic design allows me to see photography in not only a creative light but also a tool used in branding and imaging. I have been praised by my subjects in my ability to create a comfortable and fun working enviroment. I believe a great photo is created best in a team atmosphere and with the equal collaboration of everyone involved, therefore it is always my goal to maintain a positive attitude, an open mind, and strong line of communication while on set.

A quote I live by :

"It is always with excitement that I wake up in the morning wondering what my intuition will toss up to me, like gifts from the sea. I work with it and rely on it. It's my partner."
